Those of you old enough to remember the weekend following JFK’s assassination recall the shock, sorrow and outrage we all felt as a nation. Camelot was supposed to be an idyllic place. LBJ was quickly sworn in on a plane but the person who helped calm the nation with her composure and sense of duty was the First Lady, Jackie Kennedy. In this film, we relive those days told from Mrs. Kennedy’s set of events and interpreted by one of our finest actresses, Natalie Portman. At the helm in his first English speaking film is the great Chilean director, Pablo Larrain. He insisted the only way he would attempt this film is with Ms. Portman as Jackie. His credits include NO, THE CLUB and this year’s NERUDA. When the Academy Award nominations come out next week, expect to hear Natalie Portman’s name as one of the Best Actress nominees. Don’t miss one of this year’s best acting performances about a place in time we have never fully reconciled.
